How we began
After nurturing a life-long love of horticulture, in 2002 Nina Baxter finally took the plunge. Juggling her day-to-day life
as a communications consultant, she spent the next four years gaining the professional qualifications she needed to launch her own garden design business, aided and abetted by husband and fellow gardener, Matthew.
With a distinction in her diploma from the renowned English Gardening School, Nina framed her certificate and put it alongside those she had won for similar results in the Royal Horticultural Society's General Certificate and the City and Guilds qualifications. Then she got on with designing gardens.
Nina and Matthew create gardens which combine solid design principles with exceptional planting. Which demonstrate an innate love of plants and the moods they can create with an understanding of what works and what doesn't. And which showcase their rigourous knowledge of plants and ability to quickly identify how a garden can be re-invigorated.
Team Baxter
Inspiration, contacts as well as unfailing help and support have come from Matthew's parents, Charlotte and Peter Baxter, who themselves run a successful garden design practice in East Anglia. Nina and Mother-in-law Charlotte
are always on hand to help each other with design advice, swap favourite plants or trial plants for each other.
Matthew and Nina also take inspiration from Matthew's beautiful and talented sister, Lucy. Lucy was a wonderful gardener and an integral part of 'Team Baxter', working on RHS show gardens as well as many Oleander designs. Lucy sadly died in 2009, at the young age of 31. She is missed and loved with all our hearts.
The maintenance team
Having begun to create beautiful gardens it followed that our customers wanted us to keep them looking that way, so at the beginning of 2008 the maintenance side of Oleander Gardens was born.
We love looking at other people's gardens, so why not let us look at yours?

RHS Show planting
For two years in a row, the Baxters were lucky enough to help Andy Sturgeon plant up his gold medal award winning gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show 2007/2008. In 2009 they planted with Chris Beardshaw at both Chelsea and the Tatton Park Flower Show, winning both gold and the coveted 'Best in Show' title.
